What is Nasya ?
An Ayurvedic wellness treatment that consists of inhaling products such as oils through the nose.
Nasya means that which is related to the nose. In Ayurveda, the nose is considered to be the gateway to the brain and our consciousness.
Nasya refers to two practices.
~Nasya is one of the 5 techniques of Panchakarma. Panchakarma is an Ayurvedic method of purification. In this case, Nasya is performed by professionals during treatments for several days.
~Nasya is one of the stages of Dinacharya. Dinacharya is a set of Ayurvedic gestures performed every morning. We speak of Nasya or Pratimarsa Nasya. In this case, we perform this practice ourselves, if possible every day.

How to perform Nasya ?
First, it is advisable to massage your face with the oil adapted to your constitution.
Then, tilt your head back. To do this, lie down and let your head fall into the void.
Close one nostril and put a few drops of oil in the open nostril. Inhale deeply with the open nostril and exhale through your mouth ten times. Do the same on the other side.
Once the inhalation is complete, massage the entrance of the nostrils and the nose up to the eyebrows to allow the oil to circulate better.
If some of the oil has passed through the throat, gargle with water and salt to remove the excess oil.
With which oils ?
The preferred oil to perform Nasya is Anu Tailam which is tridoshic. However, this oil is more or less well tolerated by people with a strong Pitta.
Vata dominant or unbalanced and cold season
Sesame oil, anu tailam
4 drops per nostril
Pitta dominant or unbalanced and hot season
Coconut oil, rose oil
3 drops per nostril
Kapha dominant or unbalanced and in spring
Rose oil
2 drops per nostril
Contraindications
It is not recommended to practice Nasya in the following cases :
~After eating
~During menstruation
~Before or after a bath
~In case of pregnancy or recent childbirth
~In case of illness such as : difficulty breathing, cough, acute fever, acute rhinitis.
